This is what democracy looks like.
I don’t do many outings with my camera anymore. Most of my time has been taken up with America’s current political situation (and I wish i didn’t feel such a duty). My blog, which used to concentrate on photography and travel, and the life in my many years, has turned into a personal political journal about life in these trying times which I hope to turn into a book.
My most recent photo outing was a protest in Walnut Creek, California. Whatever anyone’s political bent, and whether you agree with it or not, this is a small snapshot of American history.
I will let the photos speak for themselves.

You have turned into a photo journalist, Paul – and of course a good one. Some great portraits and the messages are clear. Over here in Sweden we appreciate every sign of democracy and real people. We don’t want to lose the America we knew and respected. Today it is impossible not to react to politics, but hopefully you will be able to return to your wonderful travel nature photography. Thank you for keeping us updated.

The situation is serious but I still had to smile at that dog! You’re doing a great job of capturing these protests which as you say will be part of history. It would be wonderful if that history tells how people made a difference and the tide threatening your democracy was eventually turned.

Really great photos. They say it all. And (eventually) good luck with the book!

Hello Stacey, Thank you for the kind words. I guess taking photos at demonstrations is one way to resist and keep up the hobby. I just hope that I’m able to give up the demonstration part sooner rather than later.
