This week’s Lens-Artist Photo Challenge comes from Ann-Christine who suggests that we find images with delicate colors in celebration of Spring.
While sunrise and sunset often treat the viewer to brilliant, bright and vibrant views, dawn and dusk can also deliver the softest hues.
Below are two views of nearby San Pablo Bay at sunset. In the lower photo with the railroad tracks I took a lot of editing license and went for a watercolor effect while fooling around with some Photoshop gadgetry I’d never tried before.
Below, late afternoon provides a pleasing light to an old wall in Jacksonville, Oregon.
Below, more editorial tomfoolery, this time a photo of Rue St. Jean in Quebec City, Canada.
Below, sunrise at South Beach Marina, San Francisco, California.
Flowers and plants too, can be either bold and bright or provide a delicacy with caressing colors and quiet pastels.
Totally loving those photos!
Thank you Sheree. And thank you for visiting.
My pleasure Paulie
Nice set, Paulie!
Thank you Eliza.
Really beautiful, very cool photos! I need to learn more on Photoshop. I use Lightroom, still learning there too. Nice!
Thank you Lisa. I’ve had PS for a long time and just dabbled with it. With the shelter in place I finally decided that I have time to actually learn from tutorials.
Beautiful photos. Love the big sky shot. Excellent modifications too. Artfully done. The town street is my favorite.
Thank you John. Very much appreciated.
I agree with JohnRH, but I also think that old wall is fascinating.
Beautiful Paulie. Especially loved your opening sky and the boats
Thank you Tina and thank you so much for visiting.
Love the sky shots. It seems like paintings.

Thank you Teresa. Love your photos of the Philippines.
Ah – just as I knew it would be…a total treat! Love the skies and the old wall especially – and of course the photoshop treatments and results! Fun, Isn’t it? I have indulged in some of it now as well, as there are not the same opportunities to photograph these days.
Thank you Ann-Christine. I love those old brick walls with the advertisements in black. That late afternoon light was ideal for a color image. Oftentimes I prefer those in B&W or in a vintage tone. PS is fun. I’ve been self-teaching myself for months and then I realized that with all the time that I have at home I might use it wisely and take a tutorial. It’s amazing to learn what I didn’t know.
Yes, it’s amazing to be able to learn new thing – we never tire of it!
You have the most incredible eye, Paul! Your photographs need to be in galleries and books and everywhere. They are so often exactly what I need to fall into.
